The ZTE Axon 7 and the Asus Zenfone 3 were launched in late May this year and both smartphones pack in impressive features. Here is quick specs comparison of the two.
The Axon 7 as well as the Zenfone 3 sport a 5.5-inch screen. The ZTE phone packs in a 1,440 x 2,560 pixel resolution but the Asus device has a display resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels.
Processor, RAM And Storage
A 2.1 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset powers the Axon 7. The handset will be available in two variants: one with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage and the other with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of on-board storage. Both versions have a microSD card slot, which could be used to expand the memory up to 128 GB.
The Zenfone 3 has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. Customers can buy the smartphone with 3 GB/4 GB of RAM and 32 GB / 64 GB internal storage options. Just like the Axon 7, the Zenfone 3 also offers support for a microSD card with storage capacity of up to 128 GB.
“ZenFone 3 is the first smartphone worldwide to be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa‑core processor – the first Snapdragon 600 Series processor with 14nm FinFET process technology, an integrated X9 LTE modem, and 802.11ac MU-MIMO Wi-Fi connectivity – PC-grade graphics and up to 4GB RAM that together deliver outstanding mobile performance with improved efficiency and battery life,” says Asus.
The Zenfone 3 is equipped with a 16-megapixel (f/2.0 lens) rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
On the other hand, the Axon 7 comes with a 20-megapixel (F/1.8 lens) primary shooter and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
“Its 20-megapixel rear camera uses dual image stabilization technology, advanced auto focus, exposure, scene selection and white balance to automatically detect ambient light changes. The combination of these technologies enable users to take great photographs effortlessly,” says ZTE.
The Axon 7 has a bigger 3,250 mAh battery compared to the 3,000 mAh battery found on the Zenfone 3.
Both the Axon 7 and the Zenfone 3 will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
The Axon 7 measures 5.98 x 2.95 x 0.34 inches, which makes it slightly smaller and thicker than the Asus offering that measures 6.01 x 3.05 x 0.30 inches.
The Zenfone 3 weighs 155 grams, or about 5.47 ounces, which also makes it lighter than the ZTE phone that weighs 185 grams, or 6.53 ounces.
Both the ZTE and the Asus smartphones have a fingerprint scanner located at the rear of the device.
With top-end features, the base model of the Axon 7 has a starting price tag of 2,899 RMB, about $441. The top variant will cost 4,099 RMB, around $624. Smartphone enthusiasts will be attracted to the price of the Axon 7 as other flagship devices from other mobile phone makers with similar specs are available at a steeper rate.
The Zenfone 3 does not have very high-end features and its price starts at $249.
Undoubtedly, the Axon 7 has better specs when compared to the Zenfone 3. However, the Asus device is expected to entice customers looking for a handset with decent specs and a pocket-friendly price.
