Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech took everyone by surprise when the lovebirds exchanged rings in Bali last November. And since then the fans have been eagerly waiting for the two to get married. And after a year, the date is set, and Yuvraj and Hazel are all set to take their relationship to the next level.
But unlike the reports, it won’t be a big fat Punjabi wedding for Yuvraj and Hazel. In fact, the couple has decided to keep it a low-key wedding with only close friends and family in attendance. Yuvi’s dad Yograj Singh in an interview to Media has divulged a few details about the much-awaited wedding.
The wedding date
Yuvraj had earlier revealed that his mom Shabnam Singh is too keen that he gets married before his 35th birthday. And that is exactly what is happening. Yuvraj and Hazel are all set to tie the knot on November 29 in Chandigarh. Yograj was quoted as telling the Media, “We are holding the sangeet, mehendi and reception on the same day, followed by a gurudwara shaadi, after which we will take Hazel for ‘darshan’ of our guru Baba Deep Singh Ji.”
No big fat Punjabi wedding
Yuvraj and Hazel are in no mood to go for a big fat Punjabi wedding. The couple has decided to have a simple wedding. In fact, the wedding guest list is also small. The wedding will be attended by only 60 guests, which include close friends, family and colleagues from the Indian cricket team.
No ‘fizool kharcha’ on wedding
Yograj also revealed that Yuvraj is not in favour of any ‘fizool kharcha’ on the wedding. Yuvi’s dad added, “We, as a family, have always believed in simplicity. In a country where a majority of the population lives in abject poverty, people should spend reasonably at weddings. It is better to make donations to charitable organisations on your wedding day, instead of wasting large amounts on lavish parties.”
Farah Khan to choreograph sangeet ceremony
It is no ordinary wedding as Farah has decided to choreograph the sangeet ceremony. In an interview to Times of India, Farah revealed that she had promised to choreograph Yuvi’s sangeet and she is sticking to it. “I am meeting Yuvraj to discuss the sangeet ceremony’s choreography. He is a very old and dear friend, so it’s not a professional engagement for me. He calls me his sister, so it’s more like a gift.”
Dad Yograj’s advice to Yuvi on marriage
Yograj is on cloud nine as his son is all set to tie the knot with Hazel. And daddy hopes that Yuvraj builds a wall around his relationship with Hazel. “Marriage is about two people and there should be no scope for a third person. Relatives destroy relationships and I want these kids to know that they don’t have to let anyone have access to what they share. Hazel is a mature girl. She has grown up in a joint family, and all she wants from us is love. I was recently hospitalised, and she and Yuvraj were by my side all week. My family finally looks complete with Hazel.”
