Xiaomi’s Mi Max phablet with the big 6.44-inch display will go on open sale today on Mi.com and other websites.Mi Max starts at Rs 14,999 for the 3GB RAM+ 32GB storage version, while the 4GB RAM+ 128GB is priced at Rs 19,999. Open sale means users won’t have to register to buy the Mi Max phablet.Xiaomi has extended the sale from Mi.com to other platforms as well. Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm, Tata CLiQ, and Snapdeal will have the Mi Max as well. Although most of these sites are currently showing only the 3GB RAM+32GB storage version in stock; even Xiaomi’s own Mi.com doesn’t appear to have the high-end 4GB RAM+ 128GB storage model.In terms of specs, Mi Max has a large 6.44-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, translating to a pixel density of 342ppi.Xiaomi Mi Max comes in two processor variants – Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 and Snapdragon 652 SoCs. The 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory variant is powered by Snapdragon 650, while the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage model runs the Snapdragon 652 chipset. The GPU on both the variants is Adreno 510 GPU.Mi Max features a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 lens and phase detection autofocus. The front camera is a 5MP one with f/2.0 lens.The smartphone is 7.5 mm thick and weighs 203 grams. Mi Max is backed by a huge 4850mAh battery, which can easily last two days.In our review of Mi Max, we loved the Mi Max’s big display, which makes the phone better suited for entertainment and reading books, especially short novels, or long-form articles.Also the 4850 mAh battery doesn’t take forever to charge, and will easily last two days with moderate to heavy usage.We had concluded in our review that Mi Max is a giant phablet, and might not be suited to everyone’s needs, although the device is not impossible to use. Mi Max can be thought of as tablet replacement.
