An 80-year-old woman has been pushed to the ground and robbed of her purse by a man in the inner Sydney suburb of Glebe. Police say the woman was walking along Glebe Point Road when an unknown man, aged between 20 and 25, attacked her from behind before fleeing with the purse. Police have released CCTV images as they renew appeals for information about the robbery.
The woman suffered minor cuts and bruises – AAP About 12.30pm (Saturday 9 April 2016), the woman left a hotel and began walking along Glebe Point Road.
A witness assisted the woman to a nearby community centre and officers from Leichhardt Local Area Command were contacted. A search of the area resulted in the woman’s purse being located nearby, which was seized for forensic examination.
The man depicted in the images is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 20-25 with short light-brown hair and of a thin build.
The man is shown wearing a beige singlet and jeans, and has a tattoo on his left arm.
Anyone who knows the man’s identity, or has any information that could assist detectives, is urged to contact Leichhardt Police via Crime Stoppers.
