A Dover woman was suffered fatal injuries early Tuesday when her car was hit by a frieght train near 303 Knox Marsh Road, state police said.
According to police, Jacquelyn Rollins, 64, was parked on the tracks in a 2013 Chevy Cruze about 2:30 a.m. when it was struck in the driver’s side door by a northerly train operated by Peter Glidden, 34, of Carmel, Maine. Rollins was taken to Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival, police said. There were no other injuries.
Knox Marsh Road remained open, police said, but passenger train traffic was delayed while the car and train were moved from the tracks.
Police officers from Dover, Durham, Madbury, the University of New Hampshire and Boston and Maine Railroad assisted at the scene, as did fire and rescue workers from Dover, Madbury, Durham and McGregor EMS.
State police said the crash remains under investigation and ask anyone with information to contact Trooper Thomas Bednar at 223-8490 or by email at Thomas.Bednar@dos.nh.gov.
