A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after falling 100 metres off a lookout at Abercrombie, south of Bathurst in the central west of New South Wales.

Emergency services including police, local SES volunteers and NSW Ambulance Paramedics arrived at the scene for the rescue operation this afternoon.

They were told the woman, aged in her 20s, was on a hiking track at Grove Creek Falls when she fell off the lookout and onto rocks 100 metres below at 11:50am.

Emergency services winched the woman to safety from the base of the cliff before airlifting her to Liverpool Hospital in Sydney’s south-west.

Police said the woman was conscious.

She suffered abrasions and multiple fractures but the full extent of her injuries are not yet known.
