Police say an intense 911 call from a frantic woman claiming that she had been sexually assaulted in a wooded ravine in Weymouth ultimately turned out to be a hoax.
A statement released by Weymouth police on Thursday said the caller admitted to officers that she had fabricated the entire story and was in fact not a victim of an assault of any kind.
The Wednesday night call triggered a large response from police to a wooded area off state Route 3, where officers found the unidentified woman bound by duct tape.
Police say the woman’s story was very vague and she didn’t fully cooperate. She was taken to a local hospital for examination following her false claims. It’s unclear if the woman will face any criminal charges.
