Officers from the WA Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) were alerted to the 28-year-old’s alleged activities earlier this year. Police said he had been contacting children on the internet and encouraging them to participate in online sexual activity.
The man was arrested at his work place on Tuesday, and officers subsequently searched his car and home.
He faced Karratha Magistrates Court on Wednesday on multiple charges of intending to expose an underage person to indecent matter and sexual activity, as well as possessing and distributing child exploitation material.
The man has been remanded in custody and is due to return to court on June 1.
Acting Detective Inspector Gary Saunders from the WA Police Sex Crime Division said the arrest of the man was a testament to the cooperative work of police agencies.
“It is a timely reminder for parents to monitor and supervise their child’s internet use and to reinforce cyber safety with their children,” he said.
