Guns, drugs and cash were seized and two people are now facing charges after the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ (ALERT) organized crime and gang unit searched two homes in Dover and Mission.
The homes were searched Nov. 10, where police found a number of firearms and various amounts of drugs, including:
- Two shotguns and ammunition
- 39 grams of cocaine
- 13 grams of methamphetamine
- 13 grams of marijuana
- 15 grams of hashish
- 70 codeine pills
- 110 unknown pills
- 17 lorazepam pills
- 5 grams of an unknown powder
- $3,647 cash proceeds of crime
- 9 replica firearms
- Various weapons, including collapsible baton, swords, nunchuks, and knives
Police estimate the drugs have a street value of $10,000.
Dana Sutherland, 33, and Alok Uppal, 40, were arrested.
Sutherland was charged with two counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm while unauthorized, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order. He is also facing 10 counts of breach of recognizance.
Uppal is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and three counts each of possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.
