A man who was asked to leave a TTC bus in Vaughan June 8 threw coffee on the driver. The incident took place shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Dufferin Street and Dufferin Hill Drive, on TTC route 105.
The men may have had a history, as the driver told police the assailant was the same man who, a month prior, was verbally abusive to him and stole a transfer slip when leaving the bus.
That first encounter is the reason the driver asked the man to leave. The suspect refused and went to the back of the bus, but the driver would not continue until the suspect left. The suspect became angry, walked to the front of the bus and threw coffee from a silver, thermal travel mug on the driver before leaving.
York Regional Police investigators have exhausted all leads on the suspect’s identity and, as a result, released surveillance video of the assault and images of the suspect in hopes the public can help.
The suspect is described as a white man, five-feet, 10-inches tall with a medium build and short, dark-coloured hair. He was wearing a black jacket, blue shirt, dark-coloured pants, white running shoes and sunglasses and carrying a black and white patterned handbag.
