The state health authorities have asked the state’s ultrasonologists, except radiologists and gynaecologists, to clear the competency-based test as per the PC-PNDT Act Rules, 2014, to get themselves registered under the Act.Vini Mahajan, principal secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, who headed a meeting of the State Supervisory Board today at the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare here said the test had to be cleared by these ultrasonologists before December 31, 2016, failing which they would not be registered under the PC-PNDT Act.“Those who do not clear the test would be required to undergo a six-month training, to be organised at five medical colleges in the state,” said Mahajan. She said the test would be organised by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, in June and August. “The exact date will be announced by the Secretary, Medical Education and Research, Punjab,” she said, adding that around 842 such candidates were needed to undergo the test.In the meeting, the principal secretary, health, also asked the health department officials to monitor the ultrasound centres in the state on a regular basis.
