Two Chesapeake police officers have been charged with assault following the arrest of a man in October. Multiple media outlets report Chesapeake police spokeswoman Kelly O’Sullivan says officers Thomas Walden and Michael Hill are both charged with one count of misdemeanor assault.

Fifty-nine-year-old Thomas Wilson tells The Virginian-Pilot  both officers threw him to the ground and dragged him out of his neighbor’s home in handcuffs, injuring his left arm, shoulder and back.

Wilson filed a complaint with the police department, which found the allegation to be substantiated.

A magistrate found last week probable cause that the officers assaulted Wilson.

O’Sullivan says both officers have been placed on administrative duty.

If convicted, the officers could face a maximum punishment of 12 months in jail and a fine up to $2,500.
