The search has already been launched to form a core team of 30 members who are well versed with social media applications and are ready to dedicate at least the coming few months for the party. After forming the core team at the state level, the Congress then plans to reorganise its district teams. So far, students pursuing mainly courses in engineering or law from different universities of the state have reportedly come forward.
“The existing team has been dissolved as we plan to soon have more young and energetic social media team at the UPCC. It will offer more prompt and fast response to the attacks on the party on social media and at the same time can spread the message among the youngsters,” said Shiv Pandey, in-charge of state Congress’s social media unit.
“Many youngsters, who are prompt in responding to the issues on social media have come forward. We are trying to identify 30 such faces, who can take our messages forward,” Pandey, who has been given the responsibility to form the new team, added.
Sources informed that the party intends to focus more on Facebook and WhatsApp, two social media applications with a huge young user base and thus the focus on induction of youngsters in the core team. The party is planning to roll out its special social media campaign by July 15, ahead of the actual start of the campaign in the third week of the month.
“If everything goes as planned then by July 15, we shall be able to roll out special series of social media campaigns. These would focus on achievements of Congress ruled governments in the past. We are in the process of preparing the campaign, which would have photographs, facts as well as phrases,” said Pandey.
There is already a campaign going on social media under the head of “27 saal, UP behaal”, but it has not been officially claimed by the party.
