Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM), today announced that the all new Toyota Fortuner will be coming to Indian shores on November 7. We had earlier about the all new Fortuner will be coming to India in November. Selected dealerships have commenced with the pre-bookings for the all new Toyota Fortuner at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.The all new Toyota Fortuner will be based on the company’s new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, which is also seen in the recently launched Innova Crysta. Toyota claims that the TNGA platform will make the cars more lighter, which in turn will increase the overall handling of the car.
We expect the new Toyota Fortuner to come for a price of Rs 24 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi)- Rs 30 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi).
Like the Innova Crysta, Toyota has also done major work with the Fortuner. The new Toyota Fortuner will come with redesigned headlamps, DRLs and a mean looking stance. Moreover, the along with the 19-inch alloy wheels, the new 7-seater Toyota Fortuner will also come with touchscreen infotainment system.
The new Toyota Fortuner will come with the same 2.4-litre GD, VNT Intercooler diesel and 2.8-litre GD diesel engine as the Innova Crysta in India. While the 2.4-litre GD, VNT Intercooler diesel will produce peak power of 150 bhp and peak torque of 340 Nm, the 2.8-litre GD diesel engine will produce 172 bhp of peak power and 373 Nm of torque. Both the engines will come mated to a six-speed manual and a six-speed auto gearbox.
Moreover, reports also suggest that the new Toyota Fortuner will come with the 4×4 option and could also be launched with the petrol version in the near future.
The upcoming Toyota Fortuner will compete against the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Ford Endeavour in India.
