A Townsville teen has been charged with more than 100 offences stemming from a month-long alleged crime spree. The 16-year-old boy from Kirwan, in the city’s west, was arrested on Sunday when police spotted him on a suburban street, allegedly sparking a short foot chase before his capture.

Among the lengthy list of charges, mostly committed in October and the start of November, were 23 counts of burglary, another 17 attempts and two armed robberies.

Neighbours told of their frustrations with the behaviour of residents of the housing commission property on Thuringowa Drive, where the boy was spotted.

Police said the teen’s offences included 16 counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, 17 counts of wilful damage, five counts of stealing, four of failing to stop for police and five of trespass. He will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
