The Indian cricket team is scheduled to have a four-day preparatory training session from September 18 to 21 at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium, venue for the first Test against New Zealand.
Virat Kohli’s team will assemble on September 17 in Kanpur, where a day later the first day of training will run from 1pm to 4pm, TOI has learnt. The second day’s net session will be from 9am to noon, followed by a three-hour afternoon session on day three. A day before the match, the team will have a morning net session.
“This is not a conditioning camp as such, but since the team didn’t have a common net session after the West Indies Test series, the management has opted for a full-fledged net session for four days in Kanpur,” a source told TOI.
Earlier, the team management had directed the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra to take part in the Duleep Trophy to get some valuable match practice. India’s head coach Anil Kumble also attended first two days of the Duleep Trophy final.
The New Zealand team will reach Kanpur on September 19 and start their training session from the following day. Their tour starts with a practice game against Ranji Trophy holders Mumbai at the Feroz Shah Kotla from September 16-18.
