A 27-year-old female teacher faces charges of sexual assault involving a student at St. James Catholic Global Learning Centre in Mississauga, Ont., police say. Peel Region Police did not specify when the alleged incidents of sexual assault occurred, only to reveal that the school is attended by students from kindergarten through Grade 6.
Amanda Perreault appeared in court on Tuesday on charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, luring to commit invitation to sexual touching and making sexually explicit material available to a child.
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board said in a statement the accused has been suspended with pay pending the resolution of the charges against her.
Perreault was hired as an occasional teacher at the board in 2009 and was a Grade 2 and 3 Long-Term Occasional Teacher at St. James since the 2014-15 school year.
