A man from Surges Bay in Tasmania’s south has died in after his car rolled at Kingston, near Hobart, early on Monday morning. The 46-year-old was driving on the slip lane that leads from the Huon Highway to the northbound lane of the Southern Outlet.
A police spokesman said his white sedan left the road and rolled, before coming to a rest on its roof.
He was alone in the car and died at the scene.
The crash was reported by a passing driver just before 1:30am.
The fatality is Tasmania’s first road death for the Anzac Day long weekend.
The death takes the state’s road toll for the year to 16. On Thursday, three people died on the state’s roads in wet conditions, prompting police to urge motorists to drive carefully during the long-weekend.
