Hastings injured his left ankle after playing two matches for the Knight Riders and had to undergo a surgery in Australia.
The Knight Riders will be Tait’s second team in the Indian Premier League having played for the now-defunct Rajasthan Royals previously. He joined the squad on Wednesday (May 11) but did not bowl in the training session since he had landed only a few hours before it.
The 33-year-old recently played for Islamabad United in the inaugural Pakistan Super League and has been signed up by Glamorgan as their overseas player for the Natwest T20 Blast for the second half of the tournament. He also featured in the T20I series against India in January earlier this year but was not selected for the ICC World World T20.
The Knight Riders take on Rising Pune Supergiants in their next match on Saturday (May 14).
