A man has been charged with murder after allegedly bashing his former partner to death in her southern Sydney home. The 51 year old was extradited from the ACT to New South Wales after being discharged from Canberra Hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw and neck injury after being captured by police on Monday following more than 24 hours on the run.

His former partner Tina Kontozis was found bludgeoned to death, believed to be with a cricket bat, at Bundeena on Sunday afternoon.

The man was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station and charged with murder, assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and contravene apprehended domestic violence order.
