Good news for applicants interested in applying for Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination 2016. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in its latest notification released on November 11, 2016 has further extended the last date for registration for Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Examinations 2016. The dates had ealier been extended till November 11, 2016. However, pursuant to various requests, the commission has released an official notification yesterday, further extending the last date for filling the online application form till November 25th. Also, the eligibility criteria of the age limit has been revised to meeting the age criteria as on 01.08.2016 as well as 01.01.2017. This further means that students who meet the age criteria as mentioned in the original notification for CHSL Examination on 01.01.2017 are also eligible to apply for the exam.
The SSC had released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination 2016 on October 7, 2016. The notice released had mandated that interested candidates meeting the age criterion of 18-27 years as of 01.01.2017 are eligible to apply for the said examinations. The commission further released an extension notice on October 10, 2016, extending the last date of online applications from November 7 to November 11. This was done due to a maintenance exercise for the SSC servers which had temporarily affected the online services at the site. According to the notice released, the last date of application for CHSL 2016 Exam was to be November 11, 2016. This has now been further extended till November 25.

Over the past month, SSC (as per the latest notification released) has received numerous request from interested candidates to reduce the cut-off of the age limit to 01.08.2016. This, they said, was to curtail the number of applicants and give a fairer chance to the candidates closing to the age of 27. The Staff Selection Commission, in turn, has decided to honor the requests of the candidates and has modified the cut off list for age criterion to include both 01.01.2017 as well as 01.08.2016.

Staff Selection Commission has further clarified that this age cut-off decision was based on the DoP&T’s instructions as contained and elaborated in the OM No. 14017/70/87 – Estt. (RR) dated 14.07.1988. Staff Selection Commission has also instructed that though they are honoring the request of the applicants, this is only a “One Time” thing and they would not be extending these exemptions in future. Simply explaining the point, what the notice, further means is that candidates who meet the age criterion as mentioned in the original notification as of 01.01.2017 as well as 01.08.2016 are all eligible to apply. Keeping in view the revision of the age cut offs, the competent authority has decided to extend the last dates of applications further as mentioned above.
