Just about three months after the Punjab and Haryana High Court was told that SR Ladhar, Principal Secretary, planning, Punjab, retained money out of arbitration fee collected from farmers, the IAS officer has deposited approximately Rs13 lakh.As a contempt petition filed by advocate HC Arora came up for resumed hearing, an affidavit filed by Ladhar was placed on record.It stated that Ladhar had deposited with the government another Rs 12.99 lakh, towards refund of amount purportedly paid to staff by him and interest thereon.The Income Tax Department also filed an affidavit through ITO Naresh Kumar Bhagat stating that refund amounting to Rs 23,17,500 had been issued to Ladhar for 2011-12, while refund of another Rs 33,81,940 for 2012-13 would be released shortly.The developments took place during the hearing of a contempt petition filed by advocate Arora against Punjab Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal and others alleging non-compliance of judgment.
