KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Thursday ordered the Federal Ministry of Interior to remove the name of model Ayyan Ali from the Exit Control List (ECL).
The SHC heard the case pertaining to the ban placed on Ayyan Ali’s foreign travel. After hearing arguments from both parties, the SHC bench gave a verdict ordering the Interior Ministry to take her name out of the ECL.
The court gave a time-frame of seven days to the Federal Ministry of Interior or related government departments to challenge the decision in the Supreme Court.
The court had earlier allowed Ayyan to travel abroad, but the Interior Ministry after initially excluding her from the ECL added it back to the list only hours later.
The model had submitted a contempt of court petition in the Supreme Court against the Interior Ministry after her name was included in the ECL despite earlier court orders to remove the travel ban placed on her.
The SC had asked Ayyan Ali to approach the SHC on her contempt of court case against the Interior Ministry’s failure to remove her from the ECL
