Two days after the arrest of self- styled Hindu radical leader Amit Arora, another Shiv Sena leader -RD Puri – has been arrested for staging a shootout outside his office.While he has been booked under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act, efforts are afoot to nab his accomplices Anurag Pandit, Sumit Desuza and Mani Seera.The case dates back to June, 2013, when Puri, then vice- chairman of Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray), had claimed that two youngsters riding a bike opened fire when he was sitting in his office located near Division No 3 area. He had then claimed that he had a narrow escape.From the outset, the incident was shrouded in mystery but after a few days Puri’s security cover was strengthened.DCP Dhruman Nimble said, “The accused has been arrested and confessed to have staged the incident. All this was done for getting more security personnel. Sources said that by adding more security staff, Puri wanted to project himself as a dynamic and radical Hindu leader.Questions are being raised as to why RD Puri was not arrested then. Sources said that police officials were also probing the allegations that these self- styled leaders were operating as touts for cops.On the other hand Amit Arora was rushed to the civil hospital last night after complained of chest pain. However, he was taken back to the police station following a medical check-up.
