She previously revealed she was bullied as a young girl before she rose to stardom as a Victoria’s Secret model.
So when Shanina Shaik came face-to-face with her high school bully, the stunning 25-year-old must no doubt felt a sense of satisfaction.
‘I bumped into her after I’d moved to New York and was back home shopping with my mum at the local plaza,’ the brunette beauty told HELLO! Fashion Monthly.
‘She came up to me like nothing had happened and asked how I was and what I was up to. I was like, ”I’m great!”
‘She put me through a lot but I was nice and cordial and I think that’s important.’
The Australian superstar revealed the bullying, which she endured most of her high school life, took it’s emotional toll.
‘From what I’d seen in the movies, they (the bullies) would punch you up and take your lunch money, so I was embarrassed to tell anybody.
‘I lost a lot of self-esteem; my self-esteem was at its lowest when I was being bullied, I’d be crying and super emotional.’
But the runway sensation has taken the fashion world by storm and has walked some of the most prestigious houses, including Chanel, Oscar de la Renta and Stella McCartney.
She’s appeared on the covers of Harper’s Bazaar Australia and Vogue India and amassed nearly one million followers on Instagram.
In her latest shoot for Hello! Fashion Monthy, the Australian model flaunts her toned midriff in a lacy cropped red turtleneck.
