India’s benchmark Sensex and Nifty Indices gained 1% each led by gains in the banking and metal companies. However, investors are cautious ahead of the US non-farm payrolls data due later on Friday. Investors are also cautious ahead of the Reserve Bank (RBI) of bi-monthly policy due on 9 August. According to rating agency ICRA, RBI may not cut rates in this policy, but a 0.25% cut is on cards this year. It said the RBI is expected to keep rates unchanged for now as CPI inflation at around 5.8% in June is close to upper end of RBI’s target of 4% (+/-2%).

2:10pm: The rupee is trading at 66.78 a dollar, up 0.22% from its previous close of 66.92. The rupee opened at 66.92 a dollar and touched a high and a low of 66.75 and 66.92, respectively.

12:45pm: Stocks of tyre companies are trading higher. JK Tyre and Industries Ltd rises 11%, Ceat Ltd 5.5%, Apollo Tyres Ltd 9%, MRF 4%.
12:35pm: Muthoot Finance Ltd falls 2.4% to Rs.352.95. According to CNBC TV, Tax officials have searched premises of Muthoot Group and Officials.
12:30pm: SpiceJet Ltd rises 1.6% to Rs.62.35. SpiceJet Ltd and its owner Ajay Singh on Friday moved the Delhi high court in appeal against a 29 July ruling over a share transfer dispute with KAL Airways Pvt. Ltd.
12:25pm: Tata Steel Ltd rises 1.5% to Rs.381.90. The stock gained over 6% in last two days and so far this year it gained 47%.
12:20pm: Tata Motors Ltd rises 1.2% to Rs.508. The stock gained over 5% in last two days and so far this year it gained 29%.
