Sania Mirza celebrated her status as world No.1 in women’s doubles for 80 consecutive weeks via twitter and even as the congratulations poured in, noted cricket commentator and former India player Sanjay Manjrekar tried to be a bit cheeky and tried to correct Mirza’s tweet. Little did Manjrekar would have anticipated that his one tweet would kick start a series of tweets banter resulting in Sania owing the cricket star on the micro-blogging site.
It all started with this simple tweet by Mirza in which she wrote “Today I complete 80 consecutive weeks as the number 1 player in d world its been an amazing journey and just inspires me to work harder @WTA”.
For anyone who follows tennis and Mirza, the ‘number 1 player d world’ would obviously pertain to her being world number one in women’s doubles, but Manjrekar seemed to have a little doubt and duly put out a tweet trying to ‘correct’ Mirza.
