Dr Gurvirender Tejay (40), a leading cyber security expert, has joined US-based St Thomas University (STU) as “Gary Goldbloom Endowed Distinguished Chair in Cyber Security Management.” The Chair has been named after one of the university’s trustees.Tejay, who hails from Balad Khurd village in Sangrur, will spearhead the university’s innovative programme designed to address challenging issues for businesses.Due to his father Brig Balwant Singh Tejay’s (retd) postings, he studied at various places. He got admission in computer engineering at Thapar University, Patiala, but left the course midway after he got admission in a bachelor’s course in the US.Tejay said it was an honour to be heading the prestigious chair. He said the cyber security field was complex and continuously evolving to meet the challenges of the digital world. “We want to leverage the opportunities presented in this dynamic environment to strengthen our programme and benefit our students,” he said.His father said: “It is a proud moment for the family, especially our small village in Sangrur. It is like a dream come true.”
