Police are reminding people to take extra care when enjoying the region’s seaside areas and cliff tops.
The advice comes after a teenager was injured when he fell 20 feet down a cliff off Norma Crescent, next to Cullercoats Bay in North Tyneside.
A 13-year-old boy fell off a ledge on the cliff edge and was air-lifted to hospital on August 18. He remains at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in a serious but stable condition.
Now police are advising people to think about their safety, especially over the summer holiday period, when many people visit the coast.
