Just a day after Reliance opened its much talked about Jio 4G services; the company has received a jolt as a LYF smartphone, with which it has partnered to offer 4G services, reportedly exploded in a user’s hand.Images of the exploded phone and user’s hand with burn injuries are being circulated on social media.According to reports, Pankaj Kumar – from Kathua region in Jammu & Kashmir – bought the 4G-enabled LYF Water 1 smartphone a few days back and was operating the smartphone when it exploded in his hand causing burn injuries after which he rushed for medical treatment.According to a website, Kumar is planning to move to consumer forum to claim compensation.
The incident has come to light few days after a similar explosion of a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone was reported. This forced the company to issue a recall of its newly launched high-end smartphone over concerns of its battery exploding.LYF Water 1 smartphone, launched in January this year, comes with a 5.00-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels.It runs on Android 5.1 and is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939.The phone has 16GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. It has a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
