Ranbir Kapoor has jumped into prep for his superhero flick, directed by Ayan Mukerji, which he will kick off after he wraps up Rajkumari Hirani’s Sanjay Dutt biopic. Titled ‘Dragon’, the film marks a hat-trick for the actor-director duo who started out in 2009 with the off beat ‘Wake Up Sid’ and three years later came up with the hugely successful ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’.
‘Dragon’ features Alia Bhatt as the leading lady and the 23-year-old will reportedly be seen performing a lot of action sequences, but her character does not have any superpowers like Ranbir’s.
On Monday, Ranbir was clicked at a dance movement-rehearsal studio in Bandra with trainer Ido in the midst of an intense prep session.
“His character has shades of grey and his powers include emitting fire from his palms. He has to practice limb coordination and is training with international experts,” reveals a source close to the development.
Ranbir, who has studied film-making and method acting at the School of Visual Arts and the Lee Strasberg Film and Theatre Institute, has been toying with the idea of writing and directing his own film for a while and has closely been working on the script of ‘Dragon’ with Ayan and producer Karan Johar since the last two years. Not just Ayan and Ranbir, even Alia shares a close bond with the director and recently, the trio had their final scrip-reading session in London.
Reportedly, three installments are simultaneously being worked upon and the scripts are being finalised for a ‘Dragon-trilogy’.
“Ranbir’s costume is being designed and along with extensive physical training, he has to learn different techniques for the high-octane stunts. He will also undergo special workshops to get the physical nuances of his character on point,” adds the source.
