Prabhu, who termed Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh as “growth triangle of India” said, “Earlier on a daily basis, new lines of four kilometers used to be constructed. Now it has reached to eight kilometers daily and in coming days it will be increased to 11 kilometers per day and in next few years, we have set a target to take it to 19 kilometers per day,” he said.“In 560 trains you can avail the Clean My Coach service which we have started. Auto ticket machines and water vending machines have been installed,” he added. “We will soon set up a company for Punjab on the same pattern as Haryana [where a joint venture between the Railways and state government will be setup to create infrastructure],” he said. He added that work on the first-of-its-kind elevated railway line at Rohtak would begin soon.
Earlier, Punjab’s Food and Civil Supplies Adesh Partap Singh Kairon and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, requested more projects for the state, which the union minister promised to look into.
