Making its intent of targeting the NRI populace clear, the party has taken to Facebook and WhatsApp.
With parties looking to leverage the power of social media, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is getting on the bandwagon too. Making its intent of targeting the NRI populace clear, the party has taken to Facebook and WhatsApp. “We have created Punjab BSP pages on Facebook and have been getting considerable response from our overseas supporters. Most who have been responding to the party’s campaign have expressed concern over the dwindling base of the party with every passing election in the state,” said a senior party leader.
In such posts, party supporters are motivating people with messages like: “Ye rahen le hi jayengi manzil tak, hausla rakh, kabhi suna hai andhere ne savera na hone dia ho? (We will win, have faith, have you ever heard of the night stopping the dawn?) Posts pertaining to the plight of farmers and families of drug addicts have been posted. Newspaper cuttings pertaining to the failures of the ruling party, Congress and the AAP are being uploaded on such pages to make people aware of the happenings in the state. “The election will be contested largely on the social media ,” said BSP state chief Avtar Karimpu.
