Punjab Police recruitment drive: 226 candidates fail physical test, 12 flunk dope


Batch of 347 applicants had to first take dope tests, results came instantlyAs many as 226 candidates failed to clear the physical test while 12 failed the dope test conducted for aspirants as part of a police recruitment drive. The tests were held at the multipurpose stadium in Sector 78, Mohali, Thursday.
The police personnel overseeing the recruitment process said a total of 11,000 candidates applied for 182 posts of constables in Mohali district and the first batch of 347 applicants appeared for the physical tests Wednesday.
The police said before conducting the physical test, all the candidates had to take dope tests and the results of these were announced instantly.
“In the first batch of 347 candidates, 12 candidates could not clear the dope test while 226 failed the physical fitness test. Those who could not pass the dope test were not allowed to appear in the physical tests. We are videographing the whole recruitment process, the recruitment process will go on for the next one month. Those who have not cleared the dope test today, can re-appear after 72 hours,” added an official.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the recruitment process was satisfactory. He said that it is for the first time that the dope test is being conducted of all the candidates.
He added that medical kits were provided to the staff and medical experts were assisting them in conducting the
dope tests.
During the dope tests the urine of all the candidates was tested and the results were declared immediately.
