The Party had decided it will honour all those persons who had been detailed under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during the emergency and an oath will be taken to protect democracy.The BJP will observe a ‘Black Day’ on June 25 and 26 across the state to mark the imposition of Emergency in the country in the 1970s. The decision was taken in a meeting of the core committee of the state BJP held here Tuesday.
It was also decided that the party will honour all those persons who had been detailed under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during the emergency and an oath will be taken to protect democracy.
Deliberations were also held on various aspects of the forthcoming assembly elections. It was decided that a meeting of the working committee will be called in Jalandhar on July 1 to discuss issues related to the elections. The committee also decided that booth level meetings will be conducted in all 23 assembly segments from where BJP will fight the forthcoming assembly elections in February 2017.The party has also decided that special memorial ceremonies will be held on June 3 across the state at booth levels to commemorate the death anniversary of Jan Sangh leader Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. The core committee also deliberated upon the progress in construction of district offices across the state and it was decided that the work would be hastened to ensure an early completion.
The meeting was chaired by state president Vijay Sampla and attended by state in-charge Prabhat Jha. Among those present were former MP Avinash Rai Khanna, and national secretary Tarun Chugh.
