Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu said equal rights to hereditary property would empower women to a large extent while their efforts to grow in their chosen fields are duly supported by the government in terms of funding and logistics.
Felicitating successful women entrepreneurs from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in a programme organized by the Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India (formerly Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of Andhra Pradesh) here on Sunday, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said the Central government was keen on both financial and legislative empowerment of women. “For uplifting women financially, the government is implementing various schemes and striving to achieve political consensus on reservations in Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies”, he said in an indirect reference to the Women’s Reservation Bill.
Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said the well-being of women was one of the priorities of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he vowed to do everything that is required to provide them equal opportunities at work and in other fields.
Skill development is one thing that has been given top priority and various initiatives like Stand-Up scheme for SC/ST and women entrepreneurs were yielding the desired results slowly but steadily, he observed.
Association of Lady Entrepreneurs President K. Rama Devi said the organisation completed training over 10,000 prospective women entrepreneurs and it looked forward to setting up businesses on a larger scale in exclusive industrial estates sought to be established in all districts of A.P and Telangana.
A.P Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu promised to provide dedicated industrial estates for women and encouraged them in various other ways, Ms. Rama Devi said and added that the Association’s Vandemataram project nurtured the talents of thousands of women in textiles and apparel sector.
Earlier, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu presented Best Women Entrepreneur Award to Sentini Hospitals MD Padma Movva, Women Entrepreneur Awards to G. Vijaya Lakshmi (Jiti Sportswear Private Limited) and K. Srilakshmi (Aamrex Formulations) and Start-Up Awards to S.N.V. Lakshmi (Manav Kalamkari Prints), Jayalakshmi (Jayalakshmi Creations), and Zabeen (Great Divine Garments).
