Toronto police spokesperson Mark Pugash said police believe the arrests will have a “significant impact in reducing crime in the city.”
The force’s integrated gun and gang task force led the investigation, but also received help from 10 other Ontario police services during the investigation, police said.
Several arrests were also made in Montreal.
Police Chief Mark Saunders is set to release more details about the arrests at a 10:30 a.m. ET news conference.
