Police say three people died overnight in Toronto after a high-speed collision. Police say that at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, there was an accident between a Mercedes and an Acura at Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue.

They say witnesses saw the Acura drive away at a high speed — more than 100 km/h — before colliding with a second car a few kilometres away. The speed limit in that area is 60 km/h.

Police say five people were ejected from their vehicles, although it’s unclear whether all five were from the same vehicle.

They say three people were killed in the accident, all from the speeding car. Another two people were taken to hospital in serious condition. Police are continuing the investigation with the help of a collision reconstruction unit.
