Police car rammed in Melbourne

A POLICE car has been rammed in Melbourne’s southeast overnight. Police were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a hotel car park on Cranbourne Rd about 3am.

As officers made inquiries into the car a maroon Ford sped past police.

The Carrum Downs divisional van patrolled the area and found the Ford in Wahgunyah Cres a short time later.

The male driver then reversed, crashing into the front of the police van causing significant damage.

Two officers were uninjured.

The driver fled the scene along Warrandyte Rd.

He is believed to be aged mid to late 30s, caucasian, 180cm tall, thin and with a shaved head.

A female passenger is helping police.
