Taking strict notice of the “honour killing” on orders of a tribal jirga in Abbottabad, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday directed the authorities concerned to take action against those involved in burning 16-year-old Ambreen alive.

Responding to a calling-attention notice moved in the National Assembly by five female MNAs, the prime minister said the Abbottabad incident was not only “inhumane” but also “illegal” and against the teachings of Islam which protects the rights of every single individual.

Sharif said, “Islam does not allow such brutal incidents and those involved in the “vicious decision” of the so-called jirga for burning alive the girl for honour should be brought to book and awarded exemplary punishment, so that no one dares to indulge in such a crime in the future.”

PM Sharif said his government was in favour of providing basic rights and facilities to the masses especially the deprived sections of society and all resources were being utilised for this purpose. He warned that anyone found involved in negligence towards his duty would have to face stern action.
