Accusing the Centre of breaching all its pre-poll promises, the ruling Congress in Uttarakhand on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his over two year tenure had done nothing but only “misled people by making false promises and statements.”
Addressing “BJP Jawab Do, Modi Hisab Do” rally in Nainital Pradesh Congress president Kishor Upadhyay said Narendra Modi owes an explanation to the whole country for “breaching” his pre-poll promises.
“Modi has failed to bring back black money and control inflation besides his failure to generate employment opportunities for the youth,” he said and asked people to strengthen the hands of the Congress in the coming state assembly polls.
Uttarakhand goes to polls early next year.
“Cost of living and inflation are rising day by day. Unemployment is scaling new heights and communal harmony is at stake under Modi,” Mr Upadhyay said.
A procession was also taken from Mallital to Tallital through Mall Road as part of the rally.
Local MLA Sarita Arya and district Congress office bearers and workers were present in the rally and procession.
Mr Upadhyay also accused the Centre of meting out step motherly treatment to Uttarakhand as it was ruled by Congress.
“The Centre is not co-operating with the state government in development matters.”
“Funds are not being released and the state government is left to fend for itself with limited resources at its disposal,” the PCC president alleged.
