A plane from the Second World War had to make an emergency landing in a field near Cayuga. Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum president Dave Rohrer tells the Spectator the pilot lost engine power while flying the 1942 aircraft at about a thousand feet.

OPP say a 64-year-old man from Haldimand County was flying the plane and was carrying a 61-year-old woman from England at around 12:30 Saturday afternoon when it made an emergency landing near Highway 3.

The bright yellow and black coloured plane, which took off from the Hamilton Airport, suffered serious damage.

However, the pilot and his passenger were not hurt.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been called in to investigate.
