After the producers’ association decided to ban Pakistani artists and technicians in Indian cinema and Zee network stopped airing Pakistanii TV show, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) announced its decision to ban all ‘illegal’ Indian channels across the nation from October 15th. The authority further said it was receiving numerous complaints on illegal Indian content being aired on satellite TV channels.
The decision was taken after looking at the current situation of India and Pakistan, following which authorities have been urged to impose immediate ban on broadcast and distribution of illegal Indian content and illegal Indian DTH.
The decision comes after the Indian producers’ association decided to ban Pakistani artistes and actors in Indian cinema till situation improves.
Amidst demands for Pakistan artists to leave India after Uri attacks that killed 18 soldiers on September 18, Zee network, too, announced it will stop airing Pakistani serials. Launched in 2014, Zindagi channel became popular with the Indian masses after showcasing various Pakistani shows like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam, Sasural Ki Galli, Noor Bano, Main Bushra and Jab We Wed. Earlier, the MNS in Mumbai had asked Pakistani actors to leave India or face consequences.
