Priyanka Chopra, who is currently busy shooting for her American TV show Quantico in Canada, recently flew down to India to receive her Padma Shri award. The Bajirao Mastani actor has been conferred with India’s fourth highest civilian honour. Clad in a lime green saree, the 33-year-old actor received the Padma Shri award from President Pranab Mukherjee at a glittering function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday (April 12).
Within a few minutes of collecting her Padma Shri, Priyanka Chopra climbed her way up the trend charts on Twitter in India. ’13 Years of PadmaShri Priyanka Chopra’ was among the top trends on the social networking site on Tuesday afternoon. The Baywatch actor took to Twitter to share her proud moment.
“I think it’s all the benefit of working hard. I don’t take my job for granted,” she said.
She even took to Twitter earlier to share her happiness, “I am happy and excited that this honour came my way. It has been a good year for me. The start has been great. I am grateful to people who have acknowledged my work. Being the daughter of an army officer, this honour makes it more special.”
She became the first South Asian actor to win the People’s Choice Awards (Favourite actress) for her American TV show Quantico in January this year.
