Oppn links gangster’s death to Sohrabuddin case

Shabbir Ali also alleged that names of several police officials and politicians have cropped upLeader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Monday alleged that the encounter of gangster Mohammed Nayeemuddin could be linked to the Sohrabuddin encounter case.
Ali said Nayeemuddin was a witness in the Sohrabuddin case probe, where he was often referred to as “Kalimuddin”. Gujarat Police had claimed that Kalimuddin was on a Hyderabad-Sangli bus in November 2005 with Sohrabuddin and Kauser Bi when they were allegedly abducted by policemen from Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh and killed.
Although a CBI probe later claimed that it was not Kalimuddin, but Tulsiram Prajapati, the then IGP Geetha Johri, who investigated the case, had claimed that Kalimuddin, an informer, was a witness to the abduction of Sohrabuddin and Kauser Bi.“Sohrabuddin’s fake encounter is a high-profile case involving BJP president Amit Shah. In July 2010, Shah was arrested and was also banned from entering Gujarat till 2012. Although he was acquitted of all charges in December 2014, Nayeem was a major link in both Haren Pandya and Sohrabuddin case. Incidentally, he was killed just one day after PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana. The state government must order a CBI probe to ensure that the truth comes out,” Ali said.
He said that several new facts were emerging in cases related to Nayeemuddin, adding that suspicion was also being raised on the seriousness of the SIT probe headed by senior IPS officer Y Nagi Reddy. “As against the SIT’s claims of seizure of Rs 2.85 crore, there are rumours that the quantity of cash was huge. There are unconfirmed reports that many documents, seized from Nayeem’s dens, were being destroyed.”
Shabbir Ali also alleged that names of several police officials and politicians have cropped up. “CM K Chandrashekar Rao should ensure a fair probe and ensure that no culprit is let free,” he said.
