An Orlando Police Department officer has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence in connection with an April crash, the department announced on Monday. Michael Lemmerman, who has been on the force since 2012 and most recently assigned to midnight patrol, is relieved of duty pending an internal investigation.
The crash happened in Manatee County on April 30, said OPD Sgt. Wanda Miglio. FHP was investigating a hit and run of two unattended parked cars in Bradenton.
Lemmerman, who was off duty driving in his personal vehicle, was stopped near the scene by a Manatee County Deputy for swerving on the roadway. FHP determined Lemmerman was connected to the crash.
