CUTTACK: The Commissionerate police will implement “no helmet no fuel” rule in Cuttack from July 1. To ensure proper implementation of the programme, the police will start creating awareness among the denizens about the new rule from June 20.
“We will send letters to all fuel filling stations, educational institutes, government offices and puja committees seeking their cooperation for successful implementation of no helmet no fuel rule,” said DCP (Cuttack) Sanjeev Arora.
The commissionerate police on Monday convened a special meeting of the petrol pump owners asking them not to sell petrol to motorists not wearing helmets.
The petrol pump owners have also assured police of all cooperation in implementing the programme, which aims at saving precious lives of motorists. Initially, the police will focus on creating awareness on the issue. “Our teams will keep vigil on the petrol pumps and we will also initiate action against violators by collecting fine from them,” added Arora.
