Hyundai is all geared up to launch its next generation Tucson SUV in India today. The SUV will be Hyundai’s third SUV offering in India with the Santa Fe at the top end of its SUV segment while the Creta sits at the lower end. Bookings for Hyundai Tucson SUV opened up more than month ago with dealerships accepting bookings on an upfront payment of Rs 25,000.

Sporting the new Hyundai design theme with the new front grille, the SUV would be Hyundai’s attempt to keep up with the competition from various manufacturers in the fast-growing SUV segment.

Stylish and European, the new Hyunda Tucson is expected to arrive in both diesel and petrol variants. The new Tucson will come from the Elantra sedan itself which produces 152PS of power and 192Nm of torque. For the transmission, owners will have the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is expected to be tweaked while the mated gearbox will also feature revised gear ratios that should match the requirements of an SUV.

Coming to the diesel, the buyers can expect a 2.0-litre engine that offers 185PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The same is expected to arrive with an automatic transmission.

The launch of the SUV comes soon after the launch of the new 2017 Hyundai Elantra that arrived in India at an attractive starting price of Rs 12.99 lakhs.

Hyundai Motor India aims to have four SUV models in its product portfolio in the next four years as it looks to further consolidate its position in the fast-growing segment.
