Navratri marks the biggest celebrations of Goddess Durga’s nine avatars, and devotees across the globe perform various rituals to seek good health, wealth, prosperity and blessings of the Goddess.On the fourth day of Navratri, Goddess Durga is worshipped in the form of Kushmanda.
It is said that she created the whole universe (bhramand) from her laughter. Her name literally signifies: ‘Ku’ means little, ‘Ushma’ means energy and ‘Anda’ means cosmic egg.
Details: The Goddess has eight hands, also giving her the name Ashtabhuja Devi. All the powers to bestow boons and happiness are located in her jap mala that she carries.
Governing planet: It is believed that Goddess Kushmanda provides direction and energy to the Sun. Hence, she governs the Sun.
Favourite Flower: She likes flowes of red colour.
