NAB has acquired 14-day remand of ex-finance advisor to Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Khalid Langau on Thursday. Lango was arrested in high court premises on Wednesday after pre-arrest bail filed by his counsels, Baz Muhammad Kakar and Farooq H Naik was turned down.

Former advisor’s arrest came in the ongoing corruption case involving Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani. Lango was summoned at least thrice by the bureau but he failed to appear.

During hearing on accountability bureau’s remand request today, the court told Langau that he reserves the right to meet relatives and family during custody if he wants to. The ex-official under investigation was asked whether he was not being treated as he should be.

To which Langau said that he had no problem in watchdog’s custody. However, he opposed NAB over putting handcuffs on a public representative.

The hearing was adjourned until June 7.

Earlier this month, Mushtaq Raisani was apprehended from his office after at least Rs 630 million cash was recovered from his residence along with gold worth Rs 40 million. Officials on duty told that they had to call in machines to count the wads.

Since then, the bureau is pursuing different suspects and few arrests were made on leaks given by the arrested suspended finance minister.

Asad Shah was copped in Karachi’s Defense Housing Authority (DHA) who is a government-hired contractor and confessed to colluding with different officials to stash funds for development projects.

Mir Khalid Langau’s earlier statement should be noted which he stated here after Raisani was arrested. He had vowed to present himself for accountability and help the watchdog uncover faces of others involved in the massive corruption scandal.
